If you are determined nothing can stop you from living your dreams!
Dhanush Srikanth, a 19-year-old hearing and speech impaired shooter, won the gold medal for India in the 10m Air Rifle Men event at the ongoing 24th Summer Deaflympics in Caxias Deo Sol, Brazil from 1st to 15th May 2022.
Undaunted by all the challenges that came his way Dhanush started shooting when he was 15 years old under the guidance of London 2012 Olympic bronze medallist Gagan Narang, the first athlete to be supported by OGQ (Olympic Gold Quest) in 2008. Deaflympics is the international multi-sport event for deaf athletes, which is held once every 4 years and is the highest competition for deaf athletes at the elite level.
With intense and complete faith in his potential, he also competes with the able-bodied shooters and scores at par with them. He is in a process of practice and preparation for the 2024 Paris and 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. It is truly inspiring to see an athlete so resilient, hardworking, and focused to win medals and bring glory to his own nation India, despite his impairments.
