Brick by brick we rebuild! – Renovating Schools in Dhamni

A child without education is like a bird without wings.” – Tibetan proverb. Right to education denied, is the right to living denied.

Many children even today are denied the right to education. Schools are a second home to children. A home that moulds their lives with ideologies, knowledge, and discipline.

We at Avashya Foundation have been working to rebuild and renovate schools, their premises, and compounds with the aim to encourage more rural children for schooling. The idea of a school renovation project is to provide a better school environment and good classrooms for tribal students to study. Under this project, we have renovated the Dhayanaya School, at Dhamni village, Panvel (block Raigad), New Mumbai, which is likely to benefit over 280 rural children. We coloured and beautified the school walls, renovated the flooring, and upgraded the school furniture encouraging more and more rural children to attend classes and take interest in school activities.

Our school renovation project is a step toward the Clean India drive inaugurated by Mr. P.P. Shetty, Mr. K.L. Prasad, the school principal, and chairman of the school, with Allcargo representative Dr. Nilratan Shende and Mr. Nitin Kamble. Also, under the environment and sanitation project initiative, we have been working with local communities by providing them with safe drinking water, as it is a drought-prone area and providing sanitation facilities to the girl children by building toilets. We have been working in areas of education, health, women empowerment, disaster management, sports, and the environment as well.
