Drushti – an eye to the world

Drushti is one of the major activities of SAAD foundation which is implemented in different areas of Mumbai city. It is a CSR initiative of Allcargo Logistics Limited, implemented through partnership with various non profit organisations and healthcare service providers.

In the month of August, September and October 2021, we organised a total of 7 eye camps in the different areas of Mumbai city. Through this project we covered senior citizens, children (age group of 3 to 16) and women. Drushti focuses on creating awareness about health, specially focusing on eye health. There is a need for health education to increase their level of awareness and knowledge of common eye diseases. Such awareness and knowledge could lead to better understanding and acceptance of the importance of routine eye examinations for the early detection and treatment of eye diseases, thereby reducing visual impairment in community people.

Its main aim is to identify eye ailments, provide help with treatment and corrective surgery, and create more awareness on the importance of eye care to avert issues with vision. Over the last three months, the project has created significant impact, positively touching the lives of over 1,410 people from underprivileged communities in Mumbai. Of these, 2173 persons with refractive errors were identified and have been provided with spectacles. Investigations were carried out and 84 persons with cataract were identified for surgeries.
