Helping alleviate the challenges of serious illness

Jeevan and Jeevan Coping with Cancer Project support patients in three Mumbai hospitals.

In the sphere of health, Allcargo’s CSR interventions are focused on addressing the challenges of accessibility and affordability in public health. Jeevan, Jeevan Coping with Cancer, Drushti, Leprosy Elimination Action Project (LEAP), nutrition and medical care are some of the projects implemented by Avashya Foundation.

The Jeevan and Jeevan Coping with Cancer Project is an important project that is being implemented in Lokmanya Tilak Municipal General Hospital and Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College (Sion Hospital), Topiwala National Medical College and B. Y. L. Nair Charitable Hospital (Nair Hospital), and King Edward Memorial Hospital (KEM Hospital).

The core objective of this project is to provide psycho-social counselling, medical and educational assistance and livelihood support to people, who are affected by serious diseases.

Medicines and treatment being an expensive proposition, especially for those  who need it repeatedly, over the past three months, nearly 2,100 patients from underprivileged backgrounds were supported with medicines, chemotherapy, operations and medical investigations. In addition, scholarships were given to 40 students, who are either being treated or whose parents are undergoing treatment at Sion, Nair and KEM Hospitals.

Through this project, our aim is to reach out to the vulnerable and help alleviate their pain by holding their hand through this extremely trying phase in their life and that of their family.
