Avashya Foundation supports blind community during COVID19 pandemic

The pandemic still continues to impact lives of the underprivileged society, amid such ongoing crisis Avashya Foundation heard pain of the people who are visually impaired and gave them monetary help to survive the pandemic.

The covid-19 pandemic has impacted the world globally, with rapid increase in patients throughout the world. It had adversely impacted the blind community. It is one of the most marginalized communities.

There was strict implementation of social distancing, as one of the safety measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19, hence people were reluctant to come forward and help the visually impaired in even escorting them as they did earlier.  Due to complete lockdown, they had even lost their only source of income, which was hawking of small items at railway stations, in trains or even bus stops. The trains were not functional and buses were running only for emergency and essential services departments, that too on displaying of Id cards or passes issued to them. Thus, the livelihood of the visually impaired had come to a complete standstill.

To support them, the Foundation identified around 150 such visually impaired, across Mumbai and gave them an aid of ₹ 1000/- each, which will be a great help in this crisis caused due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
