It is the proudest moment for all of us at the Avvashya Group, that our Executive Chairman has been conferred with the highest civilian honor by the Royalty of Belgium. Mr Shetty has been awarded the ‘Distinction of Commander of the Order of Leopold II’ by H. M. King Philippe of Belgium.
The decoration was conferred in a glittering evening ceremony organized by the Antwerp Port Authority in Mumbai. Over 300 leaders from the corporate fraternity of India and international companies were present for the ceremony. The honorary medallion was presented to Mr Shetty by His Excellency Mr Jan Luykx the Ambassador of Belgium to India. Other dignitaries present for the ceremony were Mr. Alok Shrivastava – Additional Secretary Ministry of Shipping, Mr N. N. Kumar – Chairman of JNPT. Representing Antwerp Port Authority were Mr. Marc Van Peel – Chairman, Mr. Eddy Bruyninckx – Chief Executive Officer and H.E. Mr Karl Van Den Bossche – Consul General of Belgium in Mumbai.
This decoration has been awarded for Mr Shetty’s glorious efforts in strengthening business relations between Belgium and India, particularly due to the economic initiatives of Allcargo and ECU-LINE.
In an inspiring acceptance speech, Mr. Shetty said that as an Indian and a global citizen it was one of the proudest moments in his entire professional life. He dedicated the honour to his industry colleagues and mentors who guided him all through. He also thanked his family and well-wishers for their love and support. He conveyed his sincere thanks to colleagues and team members of the Avvashya Group for their hard work and dedication. He dedicated this honour to everyone across the Group who stood by him during the best and worst of his times and had faith in his conviction.
